This topic covers both Original and SE versions.
When you connect a SKULPT to an iPad / iPhone via the Apple Lightning to USB Camera Adapter, you might see an alert that says “attached accessory uses too much power" or the SKULPT will just appear to not power on properly.
The SKULPT synthesiser power requirements abide to the USB specification, however Apple iOS devices clamp the amount of power that they can provide to USB devices resulting in the alert you are seeing. This will also happen if the SKULPT is powered by batteries as the USB specification requires the device to report it's power consumption even if not using USB power.
There are two solutions to this:
- Use the Apple Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter (which contains a Lightning port for providing power) - https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/product/MK0W2ZM/A/lightning-to-usb-3-camera-adapter
- Connect the SKULPT to the Camera Adapter via a powered USB hub.
